Series-level Scope and Content Note
This series is composed of Bulkey Southworth Griffin's Journal from 1922 and personal materials, a photo with the Springfield Republican staff, his driver's license from 1927 and several inaugural invitations.The Date Book consists of political commentary, primarily Griffin's thoughts on individual politicians and assorted policy initiatives.

Container Summary
From January 14, 1922 to April 26, 1922 Griffin recorded with whom he met and his varied impressions and opinions of politicians and policy. Most of his commentary focuses on international politics such as tensions between Japan and China and the League of Nations. Commentary on domestic politicians includes mention of: Harry M. Daugherty, the Attorney General; President Warren G. Harding; Sir Auckland Campbell Geddes, British Ambassador; Charles Evan Hughes, Harding's Secretary of State; Massachusetts Congressman Sam Winslow, and William Edgar Borah, Senator from Idaho. Additionally his wife Isabel Kinnear Griffin added commentary in the early 1970's after her husband's death, identifying politicians he mentioned and recording some of her own reminiscences from 1922.
