Consists of documents, mostly correspondence, by and about members of the Ord family other than Edward Otho Cresap Ord and Edward Otho Cresap Ord II. Notable family members represented in this series include historian Bernarr Cresap, American Civil War veteran John S. Mason Jr., Lucy Maude Ord, Pacificus Ord, James Ord, World Wars veteran James Garesche Ord, medical doctor James Lycurgus Ord, and Placidus Ord, among many others. Of special interest is a near-complete run of the family history periodical 'Cresap Society Bulletin' for 1935-1956, some documents about King George IV of England and Mrs. Fitzherbert, and a wealth of letters detailing Ord family history. Materials arranged alphabetically by individual.

Container Summary

4 Autograph Letters Signed dated 1914-1918 from James Garesche Ord to his parents Edward Otho Cresap Ord II and Mary Frances Norton Ord, touching on James' experiences in the U.S. Army during World War I. One of the letters was sent from Fort Brown, Texas. Another sent from American Expeditionary Forces, HQ 1st Army Corps, U.S. Army, mentioning a raid on a U.S. trench by German soldiers dressed in French uniforms and expressing concern for the state of affairs on the British front. Also, 1 Autograph Letter Signed dated 5/20/1919 from James Garesche Ord, indicating that the morale of U.S. troops is high and General Hunter Liggett is in good spirits; sent from Coblenz, Germany on letterhead of the "Army of Occupation: American Expeditionary Forces, Third Army."
