Contents include 1 TM proposal, "Commonweal and Crisis," addressed to John Deedy arguing that "Commonweal" should include more serious, footnoted articles of "philosophical-theological inquiry" by Michael Novak; 1 xerox TM proposal, "A Magazine Proposal," advocating the creation of a new magazine that offers serious articles on religion modeled after the magazine "Science" by Daniel Callahan; 1 AMS noting that "Commonweal" vol. XLI, # 14 was printed but never distributed as it was bought up by a newly nominated judge named Vaughan in order to cover up a potentially scandalous article he had written for it; 2 issues of "Commonweal Associates Newsletter:" Winter, 1973 and Summer, 1978; 1 TM discussing "Commonweal's" niche in Catholic American culture and its future; 1 newsclipping of an obituary for George Shuster, an early "Commonweal" editor; 1 xerox of an article titled "The Importance of Commonweal," by John Garvey; 1 TMS by John Deedy regarding Peter Steinfels and an attempt to raise money for "Commonweal."
