Container Summary
4 AJE dated 11/16/1834 to 11/22/1834 containing an interesting account of how JPB obtained the attacheship at the United States Legation in Paris. He describes how he, under the advice of Levitt Harris, confronted Edward Livingston who had been putting off granting him the position (p.268). Additional descriptions of conversations between Levitt Harris and JPB regarding legation affairs and of their visits to foreign diplomats are also included in these entries. Pages 264-275 Pages 266-267, 270-271, and 274-275 are torn out.
