Container Summary
2 AJE dated 7/20/1834 to 7/22/1834 describing the last leg of JPB's travels through Switzerland before he moving on to Prussian provinces andBelgium. Included are interesting descriptions of the cities of Schaffhausen, Baden Baden, and Cologne. Along the way he purchases and reads "Paroles d'un Croyant", by the Abbe de Lamennais, which he describes as, "a shocking marriage of Jacobinism and Christianity". He also writes that Europeans hold the works of James Fenimore Cooper in very high esteem and refers to him as the "Walter Scott of America." Pages 46-59
