Container Summary
7 AJE dated 7/6/1834-7/12/1834 relating JPB's experiences on the next leg of his tour through Switzerland, including his observations of a party in a Swiss village and his description of a young girl with symptoms of secondary syphilis. During his travels, JPB reads various gazettes and comments on current events such as the loss of political power of Don Carlos, the first Carlist pretender. The last two entries also contain touching reminices of JPB's childhood with his loving father Samuel Brown, and his relationship with Mrs. Harrison Gray Otis. At this point in his trip, JPB receives letters from his sister, Susan Ingersoll, and Thomas G. Percy, who are also mentioned in his entries. Pages 34-42
