Container Summary

1 ALS dated 12/19/1863 from Z. T. Miller to his parents, describing in thorough detail his unit's recent fighting in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with references to the 2nd Ohio, the 93rd Ohio, William T. Sherman's advance, Lookout Mountain, Joseph Hooker's troops engaging the enemy, Miller being at Fort Wood, and Braxton Bragg. Also, 1 ALS dated 1/5/1864 from Miller to his sisters, with discussion of re-enlistment and bounty furlough. And, 1 ALS dated 1/11/1864 from Miller to his mother, with mention of re-enlistments and furloughs; reference to a censure by Joseph Hooker. All three letters sent from Lookout Valley, Tennessee.
