Miller to his parents, updating them on the latest news from the campaign, with references to being at the foot of South Mountain Gap, the Union army chasing Robert E. Lee, the casualty statistics of the 61st Ohio, casualties at Gettysburg, news of the capture of Vicksburg, George Gordon Meade issuing a congratulatory order, the prospects of another battle in Maryland, Meade's appearance, camping at Westminster (Maryland), and passing through Frederick (Maryland); sent from camp near Bolivar, Maryland. Also, 1 ALS dated 7/15/1863 from John Buehner? presumably to one of Z. T. Miller's sisters, discussing his involvement in skirmishes near Murfreesboro, Tennessee; sent from Tennessee and labeled "77-A."
