1 ALS from Z. T. Miller to his sisters, indicating he is uncertain where the army of Robert E. Lee is at present. Miller speculates that Lee plans to draw the Union army northward to Pennsylvania to attack Washington, D.C. Mention of a fierce cavalry fight at Aldie, Virginia, between Alfred Pleasanton and Jeb Start, whose forces were reported to be driven through Middleburg, Virginia and Upperville, Virginia and then to Ashby's Gap, Virginia; Miller says he copied the telegram from George Gordon Meade about the incident. Miller goes on to describe his unit's march through Manassas Junction to Centreville, Virginia. Reference to Adelbert Ames and Francis C. Barlow being in camp. Mention of Carl Schurz riding out towards Leesburg, Virginia.
