1 ALS from Z. T. Miller to his mother Ann Miller. Mention of an order by Oliver Otis Howard requesting the troops to bathe once a week. References to Ulysses S. Grant's activities in Vicksburg and Joseph Hooker's activities in Virginia. Miller doubts the Confederates can mount an offensive. Passing reference to Louisiana preparing to rejoin the Union and to North Carolina Governor Zebulon B. Vance threatening to withdraw troops.
