On verso, 1 printed document: "General Orders, No. 49," first line: "The Major General Commanding tenders to this Army his congratulations on its achievements of the last seven days. . . ."; sent from camp near Falmouth, Virginia, 5/6/1863, by command of Joseph Hooker, just after the battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia.
