1 ALS dated 12/21/1862 from Z. T. Miller to his father William Miller, discussing his recent experiences in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Mention of marching from Centreville, Virginia to Fredericksburg and to Stafford Court House, Virginia. Reference to Ambrose Burnside's withdrawal from Fredericksburg; the hospitals at Fredericksburg; Thaddeus Lowe's balloon at Fredericksburg; Burnside's treatment by the newspapers; troops being sent to Aquia Creek, Virginia; the 82nd Illinois; a cavalry skirmish with Wade Hampton's rebel cavalry at Brentsville, Virginia; Henry Warner Slocumb; and the 26th Wisconsin. Sent from camp near Stafford Court House, Virginia. Also, 1 undated ALS from Z. T. Miller to his sister, presumably sent close to Christmas. And, 1 very brief undated ALS, presumably dating to 12/1862 from Z. T. Miller, mentioning the army will most likely march to Fredericksburg.
