1 ALS from Z. T. Miller to his parents, describing his trip from Columbus to Virginia. Miller mentions that his regiment is not going to Washington, D.C. because of Union problems controlling the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Reference to some troops going to Romney, Virginia. Other references to being under John C. Fremont's command; catching Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson; the 6th Ohio Cavalry passing through; the sentiment of the locals; Miller being offered the role of fife major; and the rumored actions of George B. McClellan, Nathaniel P. Banks, and Benjamin F. Kelley. Sent from Headquarters of 61st [Ohio] Regt, Camp near New Creek, Virginia.
