1 AL (copy) dated 7/16[/1843], seemingly in hand of Washington Irving (1783-1859, U.S. Minister to Spain 1842-1846), sent by Olegario de los Cuetos (d. 1844), head of Spanish Ministry of State, in reply to a note passed that day to the Spanish government by the diplomatic corps. Cuetos thanks the diplomatic corps for their concern over the safety of Queen Isabella II, but he expresses his belief that she will be protected by the Spanish people. Text in Spanish. Pages 132-133. Sent from "Palacio." This letter does not appear in the published book "The Complete Works of Washington Irving: Letters, Volume III, 1839-1845."
