Upshur, secretary of state 7/24/1843-2/28/1844], with ample discussion of the insurgency overthrowing Regent Joaquin Baldomero Hernandez Alvarez Espartero. References to the fall of Madrid, the siege of Seville, Espartero's retreat towards Cadiz and his taking refuge on a British warship, Manuel de la Concha, Antonio Seoane, Ramon Maria Narvaez, Queen Isabella II, the various factions vying for power and their motives, Louis Philippe, Agustin Arguelles, Francisco Javier Castanos (Duke of Bailen), N.
