1 ALS dated 2/22/1813 from Timothy Bigelow, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, to Stephen Decatur (1779-1820), thanking him for his gallantry in the victory of the U.S.S. "United States" over the H.M.S. "Macedonian;" sent from Boston to Commodore Decatur in Philadelphia but forwarded to him in New York City. Attached is 1 AMS: resolutions of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts dated 2/20/1813, honoring William Bainbridge (1774-1833), Decatur, Isaac Hull (1773-1843), and Jacob Jones (1768-1850), with references to the H.M.S. "Java," H.M.S. "Macedonian," H.M.S. "Guerriere," and H.M.S. "Frolic;" signed by speaker Bigelow and clerk Benjamin Pollard.
