Contains 3 TLS dated 12/22/1961, 1/7/1962, and 3/20/1962 and 1 ALS dated 2/4/1962 from Winifred S. Weislogel to her parents Catherine and George Weislogel, with discussion of her arrival in Tripoli, Libya; her new post in Benghazi, Libya, as a personnel officer; her apartment in Tripoli; Libyan customs; Arabic lessons; a trip to the camel market; family news; her impressions of the city of Benghazi; her apartment in Benghazi; social engagements; the move of the Libyan capital to Baida; and her duties on the job. References include Ambassador J. Wesley Jones, Dorothy Leadbetter (her predecessor in her Libyan post), Wheelus Air Force Base, Helen Nagay, Fred Flott, Marion Hager, Robert Kasimir, Ed Kelly, Janice Somerville, Fran Sparkman, Ralph Wheeler, and Algerian independence. Weislogel sent two letters from Tripoli and two letters from Benghazi, Libya. In January 1962, she moved with the Embassy from Tripoli to Benghazi. Under an arrangement, Libya's capital moved every two years between Tripoli and Benghazi. At the same time, King Idris of Libya was planning a capital in Baida.
