Container Summary

Contains 1 TLS dated February 29, 1960, from Arthur Ransome to Helena Hirst:"Please don't be hurt at my not wanting to keep these feathers (while very grateful to you for the kind thought that made you pull your hat to pieces). The trouble is that my fly-tying days are over. My hands are all but paralysed and I shall not ask them to tie flies for me again. Even if I could spend the rest of my life dressing flies I should never be able to use up all the stored feathers that have already been providing banquets for undeserving moths. SO. . . . PLEASE. . . . Settle down at once and put that panache back where it belongs. . . . I do hope you will be able to fit it firmly in its rightful place".
