Scope and Contents
Otto L. Hein papers include correspondence and photographs documenting the career of this soldier, military attache at European courts, commandant at West Point (1897-1901), and author of "Memories of Long Ago" (1925), an autobiography. Included in the collection is an account of Custer's actions at the Little Big Horn, written by an officer on the scene shortly before and after the battle, as well as letters from such notables as Theodore Roosevelt, Douglas MacArthur, and officer-author Charles S. King.
