Contains 2 items: @ Printed copy of a memorandum posted by Ferdinand de Lesseps: "Inter-Oceanic Canal Universal Company for the Cutting of the American Isthmus - Utility - Expenses - Income - Issue of Shares" issued July 1879. @ ALS in pencil from William W. Wright to Ferdinand de Lesseps, written from the Grand Hotel in Panama, and dated 1/15/1880. Re the former's opinion on the lack of support from the US for the Panama canal route. Suggests it is due to ignorance and advises publishing proceedings of the Paris canal congress.
