Container Summary

The first half of a large AMs in Russian, most probably a copy, of the diary or correspondence of a Russian explorer of Alaska from the early nineteenth century. Includes 1 ALS in English from the directors of the Russian American Company to Governor Baranov ordering him to explore Alaska and lay claims to it for Russia to the 55th parallel or even the 50th parallel if possible; there is also a list of correspondence "copied by Mr. Moness" from the Archives, possibly a list of the contents of the larger Russian manuscript.
