Toklas; philosopher Jacques Maritain; photographer Brassai; poets Marianne Moore, Wallace Stevens, and Giuseppe Ungaretti, and many more. Correspondence is arranged alphabetically.

Container Summary

1 ALS + postmarked envelope from Alice B. Toklas to John L. Brown. Letter is undated. Postmark shows only day and year; month obscured. Based on circumstances referred to, the letter was possibly written sometime in May 1963. Refers to Toklas' eviction from her residence in the Rue Christine in Paris in May 1963, and her eliciting the help of friends such as Joseph Barry, Andre Malraux and Denise Azam.
