Container Summary

Contains typed manuscript for Chapter 1 of the novella, "The Catch Colt." Chapter title given on original folder cover: "Great Plains and Joey Bud." Includes autograph corrections. Autograph note by Kent Parrot on original folder cover: " Final revised version of The Catch Colt -- growing out of Ken McCormick's suggestion to give a horse a little larger part in the story. While at first Mary said of course she could do that, in point of fact it never seemed anything she wanted to do, and she felt it would conflict and detract from the boy and girl story. So this represents just one more of the dozens of re-writes of this story. It has been shortened and tightened up a bit. Some parts have been left out. Throughout the re-write I found myself fighting to save as much of the earlier story as possible. KKP Oct. 1978."
