Scope and Contents
A collection of manuscripts for various works by American author and screenwriter Mary O’Hara (1885-1980), including the novella and musical screenplay “The Catch Colt”, “The Wyngate Children”, as well as the complete manuscript for her autobiography “Flicka’s Friend.” Also included is sheet music for compositions by O’Hara: “Green Grass of Wyoming” (1946), and “The Wind Harp” (1954).

Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. Contains typed memorandum by Kent Kane Parrot, son of Mary O'Hara, describing the founding of the Markane Company, Inc., in 1960, to promote her musical play, "The Catch Colt." Total 2 pages. Page 3 contains information about the annual Mary O'Hara Memorial Piano Competition, established at Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., by the Markane Company. @ Also Includes autograph note by Kent Parrot delineating the contents of the ensuing folders: "The Catch Colt musical play -- the basis for the later novella. Large type notes by Mary O'Hara, numerous versions of the script for the play."
