Contains the second part of Shane Leslie's biography on Mrs. Fitzherbert, "The Letters of Mrs. Fitzherbert and Connected Papers: being the second volume of the life of Mrs. Fitzherbert," (London: Burns Oates, 1940). With looseleaved inserts (correspondence, autograph notes by Shane Leslie, clippings of printed articles and information), including the following items - 1. O.F. Morehead, the librarian, Windsor Castle, to Shane Leslie, TLS 10/3/1939. Also, TLS 5/8/1939, 3 pages; TLS 6/1/1941; TLS 6/22/1939; TL note 5/31/1939, with typed transcription of a letter from the Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington to Lt. Gen. Sir Herbert Taylor, 8/23/1830. 2. Edward Duke of Kent to Mrs. Fitzherbert, 12/20/1816. 4 folios. (Letter encased in archival envelope; original envelope with black seal remains attached to the flyleaf of the printed book.) 3. George Dawson-Damer, calling card: "Lt. Colonel Dawson / Tilney Street." 4. Autograph manuscript notes by Shane Leslie (attached to p.193 of the book). Pages 1-8 missing. Pages 9-12 extant). 5. Mrs. Fitzherbert to Minney Dawson-Damer, ALS 8/20/1830 (attached with fragment of addressed envelope to rear endpapers. Includes seal).
