Container Summary
Contains a printed pamphlet address by Spence "...to the Voters of Maryland in Reply to an Address of the Scott Correspondence Club of Maryland." The tone is extremely pro-Franklin Pierce. Indeed, when Pierce won the presidential election, he rewarded Spence with the U.S. ambassadorship to Turkey in 1853. 15 pages.
