Contains 2 ALS from James Placidus to his daughter Clarissa Rebecca, also known as "Kitty," as her father, indeed, addresses her: "My Dear Daughter, Miss Kitty - In my last letter to your dear Mama, I say to you that perhaps you have not been quite as punctual in writing to me as your brother James [Cresap] or Mary [Caroline], and the reason why, I accounted for it perhaps was that I might be owing you a letter..." Written from Detroit, Michigan, the letter continues full of fatherly advice for Kitty to look after siblings. @ The second letter (9/30/1869) is from Mississippi: "My Dear Daughter - Enclosed I send you as a present the enclosed check for $87.00 which I wish you to hand over to your Mama to be expended in music...Miss Kitty please accept my thanks for the long and truly interesting letter you sent me."
