Container Summary

Contains an autograph transcription of an extract of a letter from "Kittie Ord to Rodman," probably Clarissa Rebecca Ord to her husband John Rodman Pierce. Concerning the claim that James Ord was a descendant of King George IV of England. "I am feeling sensitive over so much unnecessary publication of the Ord family name and it would be a mercy if James L. Ord of Chicago could be struck dumb, muzzled, and chained - I think he must be out of his mind to advertize himself and the rest of the family....It is most disgusting - the public must think - if they take any interest at all, that the family have very little respect for their private affairs or the memory of poor old Grandfather, who would be horrified if he could hear all that has been said about him..."
