Contains ALS from Edward O.C. Ord writing from Washinton, DC, to his brother J. Placidus. Primarily concerns Edward's efforts to obtain employment for Placy. Details the official connections he has in D.C., including his former classmate Isaac Ingalls Stevens, territorial governor of Washington DC c.1853-57. Edward cautions parenthetically: "(Private: this is all in confidence - I don't even tell my wife my official connections - though there is no reason why you should not.)" @ Prospects for employment mentioned by Edward include a berth on the wagon road for the North.
