Container Summary

Contains ALS to James Placidus Ord from his brother in Boston: "...Well how do you get on at the Saut [Sault St. Marie, Michigan]. Have you prospered as you hoped? and is business paying?" Continues to make observations on the education and development of his younger brother John Stephen ("Jack"): "he is very lazy - in books - and has the knack of having his own way so that you could not do much with him." Finally, also complains lightly of his bachelor state and blames Boston: "I am disgusted with the Bostonians - who have so little confidence in [their?] claims to respect in social intercourse that they won't admit officers to their firesides - at least they don't like to have them too much with their daughters..."
