Contains ANS on the back of a printed copy of a prospectus for Georgetown College, print date 1846. Edward writes: "...The companies (army) will be increased, one new regiment raised and probably a row with Mexico, in which case I shall be there. The officers of the new regiment will be citizens, the House of Reprsentatives to contrary nontwithstanding. How does your courting scrape come on. In earnest, Placy - get married if you can, you'll be a wiser and better man."
