Container Summary
Contains 2 ALS from Joseph H. Skirm addressed to "Mrs. Kitty Ord Pierce" of Santa Cruz. (Clarissa Rebecca, daughter of James Placidus and Julianne Ord, married John Rodman Pierce, April 24, 1878.) @ Both letters from Skirm discuss the controversy over the James Ord estate legacy. Skirm describes in detail the complex sequence of events that finally deprived John Stephen Ord (Kitty's uncle) of his "rightful" ownership, leaving Mrs. Annie E. Williams, widow of William Marcellus Ord, in almost sole possession of the contested land.
