Container Summary

Contains 5 TLS, 1 ALS to HG. Includes 1 TLS 12/16/77 to Rene Hague. Concerning activities of the David Jones Society and of the society's newsletter. @ Blamires was the editor of the David Jones Society Newsletter, issued from 1976-1984. Samuel Rees describes Blamires' role (see David Jones Bibliography for John Matthias' book, "David Jones: Man and Poet," p.507): "A labor of scholarship and love by the society's first and only secretary, who wrote, edited, collated, stapled and mailed 38 issues over a period dating March, 1976 to November, 1984. No one, apparently, volunteered to take over the work at that date and so, in Blamires' closing words, " it may be...that the newsletter has served its purpose and lived its natural life." The David Jones Society was founded in 1975, and numbered around 130 members at its peak."
