Container Summary
Contains 5 TLS + 1 TMsS of a poem by Benet. The latter was apparently sent to PB when his play, "Here Come the Clowns," received bad notices from the critics. The poem was published in "Selected Letters of Stephen Vincent Benet," edited by Charles A. Fenton. Benet's correspondence is primarily in response to the theme of PB's latest play, "Here Come the Clowns," and includes much interesting and literary commentary on the "wars in Heaven" between good and evil. Also, references to "The Philadelphia Story," as well as the prospective production of Benet's own play, "The Devil and Daniel Webster."
