A collection of 10 autograph letters, dating between 1822 and 1848, addressed to the longtime American consul in London, Col. Thomas Aspinwall. They are from several prominent Americans and Englishmen seeking Aspinwall's assistance in a variety of matters.

Container Summary

Contains ALS to TA written by a secretary to Sir Anthony de Rothschild (1810-1876): "Agreeably to the request contained in your letter of 15 ult., we beg to enclose a copy of the answers to the interrogatories referred to therein, given by Baron A.N. de Rothschild...Baron Rothschild begs to know whether Tuesday next would suit for taking his disposition." Sir Anthony de Rothschild was the second son of European financier and merchant Nathan Meyer Rothschild (1777-1836) and manager of his father's business.
