A collection of 10 autograph letters, dating between 1822 and 1848, addressed to the longtime American consul in London, Col. Thomas Aspinwall. They are from several prominent Americans and Englishmen seeking Aspinwall's assistance in a variety of matters.

Container Summary

Contains ALS to TA from David Paul Brown (1795-1872) in Liverpool, England. Re delay in meeting TA in London: sends apology along with enclosed letter, as well as request to have his mail held in the care of TA until his arrival, "trusting you will pardon the encroachment upon your kindness." Brown was an American lawyer and orator, whose tragedy, "Sertorius" was a vehicle for the English actor Junius Brutus Booth (1796-1852), whose son John Wilkes Booth assassinated U.S. President Abraham Lincoln in 1865.
