ID-27e: Ad Auds (Audiendam Confessionem) Exams, 1919-1948., 1919 - 1948

 File — Box: 17, Folder: 303-305
Oral examination questions, laid out as scenarios faced in the confession booth, for Woodstock College seminarians. These exams shed light on how priest's approached and categorized sins, how they understood sexuality and women, the church's relationship to protestantism, and the ways they were to handle issues of the times. This sheds particular light on the clergy sexual abuse as one question from 1933 directs confessors to take a priest's reputation into account when handling cases of pedophilia (folder 304).
