Content Description

Contains material related to the student-led sit-in outside of the White-Gravenor building in April 1986 to urge the Georgetown administration to divest from South Africa in protest over their apartheid policies. Includes a notice dated April 12, 1986 from the students, organized under the name of Freedom College, explaining the reasons for the sit-in as well as listing their desired outcomes; flyers containing updates from Freedom College as the sit-in progressed; a flyer for a divestment rally to be held on April 24, 1986; various hand-written notes from sit-in participant Vincent Atchity (C '86); and a letter dated April 29, 1986 from Dean of Student Affairs, John J. DeGioia, attempting to clarify the events of Friday April 25th in which Georgetown University Protective Services tried to close down the sit-in outside of White-Gravenor.
