Identifier: GTA-180501

Content Description

Contains various material related to the Foreign Service Women’s Association from 1955-1959. Includes a wooden gavel with the Foreign Service Women's Association engraved on a silver band, meeting minutes, membership lists, and several iterations of the Women’s Association constitution. Meeting minutes are brief but mention the following topics: housing for women students, dues and membership, sports activities, social activities, fundraising opportunities, Women’s Association officer elections, and a speakers series. Occasional correspondence is included with the minutes as these letters were read aloud at the meetings. Also includes a brochure for the academic years of 1956 and 1957 produced by the Women’s Association containing information for new women students in the Foreign Service School. The brochure contains information on clubs, activities, housing, where to go for dining, cocktails and dancing, and suggestions on what to wear for campus and off-campus activities. Miscellaneous correspondence and a news clipping on Halcyon House included.
