Scope and Contents

Contains invitations, correspondence, clippings, and other material re Solemn Votive Mass of the Holy Ghost for the opening of all schools of Georgetown University. Includes transcript of Patrick Cardinal O'Boyle's remarks at 1967 mass and transcript of homily by L. C. McHugh, S.J., 1965. Also photograph from 1962 of Frs. Schweder, Bellwoar and Hurley, transcript of remarks by Philip L. Boroughs, S.J., 2003, and various Mass programs between the years 2003-2015. Early masses were held in Dahlgren Chapel; from the 1950s on the event took place on the White-Gravenor esplanade (or McDonough Gym in the case of inclement weather). Post-1960 material references Mass of the Holy Spirit rather than Mass of the Holy Ghost.
