Scope and Contents

Two volumes.

Volume one contains mainly photographs. Included are images of Georgetown University's campus (some in the snow); football and basketball games; the Glee Club; the 1939 New York World's Fair; "Hoya", the Georgetown mascot, standing on the statue of "Testudo", the Maryland terrapin; Al Matuza; Joe McFadden; Lou Ghecas; Myron Darmohray; Jules Koshlap; John Lascari; Mark Ostinato; Augie Lio; John E. Wise, S.J.; Edmund A. Walsh, S.J.; Frederick W. Sohon, S.J.; Arthur A. O’Leary, S.J.; Benny Goodman at the Junior Prom, 1940; Albert Zaloom; Richard E. McVoy; James S. Ruby; Theodore Plessner, S.J.; and Elisha Berry. Also included: G Book with rules and regulations for 1939-1940 and postcards of campus, ca. 1930.

Volume two includes color football programs and program for the Inter-American Horse Show, 1938. Also loose photographs of: ROTC, including one of the Unit at U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s inaugural parade, January 1941; football, including some of Orange Bowl, 1941; basketball; ice hockey; Richard Law, S.J.; and Kay Aldridge. Note on cover of volume two states: “All photos were taken by me as Asst. Photo Editor for The Hoya, 1939-1940 and Co-Editor of the 1941 Domesday Booke.” According to a note on the back of one photograph, all photographs, with the exception of one of the ROTC Unit at the 1941 inaugural parade, January 1941, were taken by Mr. Lesser.
