Scope and Contents

The volume is the only one in the collection to feature the Sisters of St. Francis of Glen Riddle, Pennsylvania, at Georgetown between 1898-1947. A GU/School of Nursing branded seal is embossed on the front cover. The volume is dedicated to Sister Mary Mechtilde Billinger, O.S.F.and Superintendent of Nurses Sister Mary Joanila Knott, O.S.F. - photographs of both are included. The yearbook notes Sister Joanilla’s receipt of the nursing diploma and baccalaureate at Georgetown. Nursing instructors Marion Ratigan and Barbara Sandmaier (a 1912 diploma graduate) are also pictured. Included are line drawings of the old University Hospital, the Medical School and Healy Hall, photographs of the Nursing School chapel, a classroom, a demonstration room, the library and the recreation hall, and group photographs of the Nursing Class of 1942 and 1943. The Sodality, the Spotlight puiblication, and one-act plays are highlighted in the activities section. The words to a School Song by Nellie Guy and Rosemary Gallgher, N'1940, are included. Among the graduates is Sister Mary Clare Monica Dressel, O.S.F. Dressel, O.S.F.
