Container Summary

Academic convocation and honorary degree ceremony for Walter Hallstein, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs for Germany, in McDonough Gymnasium. After the reading of the University Charter, President Edward B. Bunn, S.J., introduces Dr. Hallstein as a scholar and a "true statesman" and calls his visit "the third act of a great drama entitled the Quest for Peace", the first act being Dr. Hallstein's public address at Georgetown 18 months earlier and the second act, Chancellor Adenauer's visit in April 1953.
