Debts and credits of Georgetown College, 1797-10
Scope and Contents
Four page financial statement containing two pages of "Debts of the College in the beginning of October 1797," listing the names of people the College owed money to. In only a few instances is the reason for the debt (flour, planks, "halling [sic] stone") given and the name Justine Douat is included. A number of entries, identified by the notation "Servants Wages," reflect the presence of enslaved persons on campus. The two pages of debts are followed by two pages of credits listing those who have paid money to or who owe money to the College.
