Scope and Contents Note The Ned O'Gorman Papers 4 comprise part of the personal papers generated by Ned O'Gorman (b. 1929), a noted American poet, author, and educator. This collection primarily contains lengthy drafts of O'Gorman's autobiography entitled, "Venerated Trinkets, Kept Memorials, and Things Lifted Up: A Volume of Autobiography." Two letters from Ned O'Gorman to Nina and Herman Schneider. One letter, dated November 27, 1987, is a request for funds to support The Children's Storefront, an independent school in Harlem that was directed by O'Gorman. It includes a photograph of students who attended the school. The other letter is a request by O'Gorman for an invitation to visit the Schneider’s East Hampton summer rental home that was likely written in the 1960s.
