Sixty-three folders of correspondence constitute this series. Arranged alphabetically by name, correspondents include governors/presidents of Panama, U.S. ministers, consuls and officials to Panama, as well as prominent officers of the Panama Railroad Company. In addition, there is a folder of envelopes addressed to EAD with personalized franks from numerous US congressmen - where identifiable, these are listed by name in the folder description.

Correspondence from Pablo Arosemena,president of Panama from September1910 to October 1912. ALS, 1/11/1904 - Thanks EAD for anhospitable visit to New York. Refersto the prospective ratification of theHay-Bunau-Varilla treaty which grantedto the US "in perpetuity" use,occupation, and control of the CanalZone in order to construct, maintainand protect the canal (actualratification 12/2/1903, approved by USSenate 2/23/1904). Also mentions theimminent election of Manuel AmadorGuerrera as provisional president ofthe Republic of Panama. ALS, 2/9/1904 - replies to letter fromEAD (n.i.). Writes: "There is no doubtthat by the time this reaches you . .. you will have received cableintelligence that the constitution ofthe Republic of Panama has beensanctioned and the new government dulyinstalled under the presidency of Dr.Manuel Amador Guerrera." Also mentionsname of William Nelson Cromwell,lawyer and general counsel for thePRRCo. ALS, 2/22/1904 - replies to a cablemessage from EAD (n.i) thanking himfor his words of esteem and plans fora reception in New York. TLS, 3/5/1904 - replies to a letterfrom EAD (n.i.) thanking him for hiswords of esteem. Refers to PabloArosemena's prospective appointment asminister to the US at end of March1904. TLS, 4/25/1905 - congratulates EAD onappointment as director and treasurerof the PRRCo. TLS, 10/26/1914 - thanks EAD forhospitality during visit to US.
