Among those mentioned: distance runner Charles Capozzoli, track captain Joe Deady and the world record setting 2-mile relay team; football players Jim Schenk, Bob Noppinger, Frank Mattingly, John Kivus, Billy Conn, and Dick Barba and football coach Bob Margarita; basketball players Dan Supkis, Hugh Beins and Ray Corley and basketball coach Elmer Ripley; pitcher Rube Waldele and baseball coach Joe Judge; tennis captain Carl Joyce; boxing coach Marty Gallagher; director of athletics/football coach Jack Hagerty; and mascot Butch. Also highlighted are the construction of McDonough Memorial Gym and Georgetown's dropping of intercollegiate football.
